What is a Gobo?

In basic terms a gobo is either a thin piece of stainless steel or alternatively vapour deposited metal on glass which has had an image cut into it. When placed into a luminaire (light projector), it projects the cutout image onto any surface magnifying the image. Gobo's are used extensively in the entertainment lighting industry, advertising, trade shows etc.
