Custom Shims

Custom Shims Designed & Cut In-House

Australia’s Only In-House Shim Importer & Cutter

At Mastercut Technologies, we specialise in manufacturing high-precision custom shims for a wide range of industrial applications.

Whether you're aligning shafts, spacing machine components, or correcting machinery levels, our expertly crafted shims are trusted across Australia’s mining, manufacturing, energy, and heavy equipment sectors.

As the only Australian provider that imports and cuts shim materials completely in-house, we offer unmatched speed, flexibility, and precision. From one-off prototypes to high-volume orders, we deliver reliable, burr-free shims that perform under pressure. We’re also known for our rapid turnaround times, especially for urgent breakdown or maintenance jobs.

And if you’re looking for fast, ready-made options, we also stock a full range of standard-sized stainless steel shims available for quick dispatch.

What are custom Shims?

Shims are thin, flat pieces of material used to fill gaps, align components, and ensure accurate spacing in mechanical assemblies. Though small, they play a big role in maintaining operational performance, extending equipment life, and preventing costly failures—especially in demanding environments.

Standard shims typically come in fixed shapes and sizes like washers or rectangles, and are ideal for common setups or quick repairs. However, when the space, shape, or load conditions vary—or when precise tolerances are required—custom shims are essential.

Custom shims are designed for an exact fit. Whether it’s a slotted design for easy installation, a tabbed profile for secure placement, or a multi-hole layout for evenly distributed load, these shims are tailored to your application and built to function exactly as needed.

Why Choose Mastercut Technologies?

We’re one of the few truly specialised custom shim manufacturers in Australia—and the only one who imports raw shim material and precision cuts it all in-house. That gives us full control over quality, cost, and turnaround time.

Our key advantages:

  • Shim thicknesses available from 0.025mm to 10mm
  • Stainless steel grades 304 and 316 held in stock
  • ISO9001 certified manufacturing process
  • Standard tolerances of ±0.2mm, with options down to ±0.05mm or tighter
  • All parts are cleaned, deburred, and ready to install
  • Fast, reliable delivery nationwide and internationally

File Handling Made Easy

We’re set up to work with a wide range of digital design files. Whether it's standard CAD formats like .DXF and .DWG, or Illustrator files, we’ll take your drawing and turn it into a shim that fits your machinery perfectly.

Don’t have a file ready to go? No problem. Our in-house CAD team can assist by creating the required designs for you. Where possible, we’ll also nest multiple parts together to maximise material efficiency.

Smart Packaging and Fast Delivery

Once your shims are cut, we take just as much care in how we pack and deliver them. Each part is cleaned and deburred, then grouped by type and thickness to make your job easier when they arrive.

We label everything clearly and use heat shrink packaging to keep parts secure and protected during transport. This means they’re quick to identify and even easier to install when the time comes.

And when time is critical, we’re ready. Our team is used to working to tight timeframes, and we offer express delivery services to help you stay on schedule.

We ship to anywhere in Australia and can also ship internationally if required.
